Automatic External Defibrillator

It has been well documented that early defibrillation greatly improves the survival of a casualty in a Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) Cardiac Arrest. However, the use of an AED alone is not as effective as could be when used in a combination of resuscitation procedures.
 
What are the main aspects covered on the AED course
 
The AED course concentrates on the following aspects:-
 
CPR - the ability of the rescuer to perform effective CPR in cardiac arrest scenarios. Safe and prompt recognition for the need, and application of an AED.
Candidates ability to use an AED safely and effectively in given scenario's.

Duration: 4-Hours 

Who has the course been designed for?

The AED course is designed for any person who may require to use an AED in a Cardiac Arrest Situation.

Who should attend the course?

The course is open to individuals and groups who may be:

Members of the public wishing to learn how to undertake CPR and AED skills.
Members of the Voluntary and Private Ambulance Sector wishing to enhance their skills and knowledge.

First Aiders wishing to enhance their CPR and AED Skills.
Health Care workers who wish to enhance their CPR and AED Skills

Course Duration 

The course is held in two distinct phases over a single 4-Hour period:- 

Phase 1, A 2-hour Emergency Life Support Session. Candidates must successfully complete this phase prior to moving onto phase 2.

Phase 2, A 2-hour AED training period. Candidates will be expected to combine CPR and AED skills in given scenarios.
