By undertaking this Level 3 PI Trainer Award you will be qualified to train others to deliver the new Unit 4 PI module of the Door Supervisors Licensing Award which came into force after June 2010
Why Do I Need to Do This Award?
As from August 2011 all Trainers providers physical intervention training for Door Supervisors will be required to hold the New Level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry.
PI Training for Door Supervisors to Become Mandatory
Following recommendations by the Security Industry Authority, and in the interest of public safety, government ministers have agreed that physical intervention skills training will become mandatory for all door supervisors in the United Kingdom. The SIA are however, still finalising this requirement with the Awarding Bodies and the door supervision industry will be given adequate notice to implement the proposed changes. It is also possible that door supervisors renewing their license will also have to provide evidence of dealing with:
- 14 - 18 year-olds,
- first aid and
- terrorist threats.
This isn't going to be an overnight requirement and the SIA have stated that they do not make something a requirement without giving four to six months notice, so nothing is likely to happen until much later on in the year at the earliest.
What does the qualification cover?
The Level 3 qualification is 1 unit consisting of 30 hours of guided learning in classroom and practical sessions.
