In order to obtain a SIA Security Guards licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front line staff only.

To get one of the qualifications linked to security guard licensing you will need to attend and take three training modules and take and pass three exams. The course may be delivered over three days or during weekends and/or evening sessions. The duration of the training is 26 hours Guided Learning Hours of which 20.5 hours are contact.

• Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of Security Officers
• Patrolling
• Access and Egress Control
• Searching
• Technology and Systems in the Security Enviroment
• The Security Officer and The Law
• Communicating, Reporting and Record Keeping

Conflict Management Module

• Avoiding Conflict and Reducing Personal Risk
• Defusing Conflict
• Resolving and Learning from Conflict
• Application of Communication Skills and Conflict Management for Security Guarding 

Who should take this qualification? Training for those wishing to begin work as a Security Guard. On successful completion of the course, and passing the required examinations, delegates will be able to apply for an SIA Security Officer Licence which will allow the individual to operate as a qualified Security Guard.
